Pack Events

Our program year runs alongside the academic year, starting in late summer and wrapping up in early May. Throughout the year, your scout will participate in both Den and Pack events. Below are our signature Pack events and a little bit of what to expect at each.

Recruiting Tables

Each summer we host a kickoff event to welcome new families and start our year. We also host a table during school supply drop off night to recruit new scouts.

Chili Cook Off

This event is as fun as it is delicious. While our scouts engage in fun activities, the chili cook off is a great opportunity to mix and mingle with other parents.

Pinewood Derby

Every January, our Pack gathers for one of the most anticipated traditions of the year: the Pinewood Derby. Scouts design, build, and decorate their own wooden race cars with the help of family and den leaders, learning hands-on skills in creativity, craftsmanship, and sportsmanship along the way. Race day transforms the meeting space into a cheering arena as Scouts proudly watch their cars speed down the track. The event celebrates effort as much as outcome — every Scout participates, every car is unique, and the focus is on encouragement, fun, and shared accomplishment.

Beyond the race itself, the Pinewood Derby is a true community event that brings families together. Parents volunteer to help run the track, manage check-in, and keep the day moving smoothly, while siblings and friends join the excitement. Awards recognize design, creativity, and Scout spirit in addition to speed, reinforcing that success comes in many forms. The Pinewood Derby is more than a competition — it is a highlight of the Scouting year that strengthens friendships, builds confidence, and creates memories that Scouts and families look forward to long after the final heat is run.

Fishing Derby

Each summer we gather at Busch Lakes for a day of fun and fishing.

Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food is a nationwide community service project where Scouts collect food donations to support local families facing hunger. Each year in November, Scouts distribute door hangers or flyers in their neighborhoods, return a few days later to collect donated items, and deliver the food to local pantries and charities. The project teaches Scouts the importance of service, compassion, and civic responsibility while making a direct, visible impact in their own communities.

For many Packs and Troops, Scouting for Food is one of the largest service efforts of the year. It gives Scouts a chance to work together toward a meaningful goal, see the results of their effort immediately, and understand how even small acts of generosity add up. Beyond the food collected, the project builds awareness about hunger and reinforces a core Scouting value: helping other people at all times. We partner with troops 631 to collect the bags that they have distributed.

Fall Campout

Each fall we gather for an overnight campout where we bring together all of our dens, work on crafts, carve pumpkins, enjoy the outdoors, and share in fellowship over a campfire.

Spring Campout

Each year we gather again in the spring to head outdoors and wrap up our program year finishing up adventures and learning new skills.

Arrow of Light Crossover Ceremony

In early March we hold a special ceremony to recognize our oldest scouts for earning the highest award in Cub Scoutings and celebrating their transition from the Pack to the Scout troop.

Blue & Gold Celebration
