Costs

Scouting is funded in several ways. Each scout pays dues to the national Scouting America organization. They also contribute to the local Pack. Here is a breakdown of how that works:

Scouting America Dues:

New scouts pay their Scouting America dues upon sign-up, and returning scouts pay on their Anniversary Date through my.scouting.org. For our Scouts, most of their renewal dates are 12-31-25.

At the moment, this is set at $65 per youth and $85 per adult.

Pack Dues:

Our budgeted annual cost per scout is approximately $150. We cover this through surplus funds from prior years, the pack’s share of fundraising efforts, and dues. Surplus funds go to the Scout Dues Scholarship Fund, replacing our Pinewood Derby track equipment, purchasing camping equipment, replacing program materials, and more.

Buying out of fundraising is $50.

Pack Dues: $125

Pack Dues with Fundraising Buyout: $175 – if your scout does not participate and sell the minimum, either in Popcorn Sales, Vertical Discount Sales, or a combination of both.

Scout Bucks: If your scout participates in fundraising, proceeds will be split between the Scout and the Pack in the form of Scout Bucks, which can be used to offset Dues. Scout bucks can be rolled over year to year, shared within your family, and can follow your scout to Troop 631.

For example, A scout has $25 in Scout bucks remaining from last year, and earns $100 in Scout bucks this year through fundraising; their dues would be reduced to $0 this year.
