Learning through adventures
All Scouts should have their own Cub Scout Handbook and work on their age-appropriate “Rank Badge”. Handbook adventures can be den group activities and/or family-led activities.
Here is a breakdown of the goals for each grade level as well as an overview of all rank advancements and elective adventures.
Lion — Kindergarten

As a Lion, your kindergartner will make friends, laugh loudly, build confidence, explore nature, and—most importantly—have fun! Lions are introduced to Scouting through age-appropriate, hands-on adventures that focus on character development, leadership, citizenship, and personal fitness. The Lion adventures can be found here: Lion Adventures |
Tiger — First Grade

The Tiger badge is earned by completing six required adventures, one elective adventure, and a parent/child safety exercise. The Tiger adventures can be found here: Tiger Adventures
Wolf — Second Grade

The Wolf badge is earned by completing six required adventures, one elective adventure, and a parent/child safety exercise. The Wolf adventures can be found here: Wolf Adventures
Bear — Third Grade

The Bear badge is earned by completing six required adventures, one elective adventure, and a parent/child safety exercise. The Bear adventures can be found here: Bear Adventures
Webelos — Fourth Grade

“Webelos” means “We’ll Be Loyal Scouts.”
The Webelos badge is earned by completing five required adventures, one elective adventure, and a parent/child safety exercise as outlined in the Webelos Handbook. Scouts earn adventure pins, which are worn on the uniform. The Webelos adventures can be found here: Webelos Adventures
Arrow of Light — Fifth Grade

After completing fourth grade, Scouts work toward the Arrow of Light, the highest rank in Cub Scouting. Requirements are outlined in the Webelos Handbook and include four required adventures and one elective adventure.
In late winter or spring of fifth grade, Scouts graduate from Cub Scouts and cross over to a Scouts BSA troop during a special ceremony called a Crossover.
